“A Solitary Jailhouse Lawyer Argues His Way Out of Prison”
For 15 years in prison Jabbar Collins maintained his innocence of the murder he was convicted of in New York. Through his own research in prison he was able to amass arguments and documents that convinced an attorney to take his case, which ultimately led to his release from prison. His conviction was overturned. One of his resources in prison was Statsky's Case andalysis and Fundamentals of Legal Writing:“A thick text for paralegals called Case Analysis and Fundamentals of Legal Writing became his bible.”
Upon his release, Mr. Collins became employed as a paralegal in Manhattan.
